April in 2022 was recorded in the history of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea as a meaningful month resplendent with eye-opening and unprecedented events the Korean people had never witnessed before.

On April 11, General Secretary Kim Jong Un of the Workers’ Party of Korea cut the ribbon at the inaugural ceremony of Songhwa Street.

The street was built in the Songsin and Songhwa area in the capital city of Pyongyang in pursuance of the plan for 2021, the first year of the five-year plan for capital city construction which had been set forth at the Eighth Congress of the WPK. It consists of skyscrapers and other high-rise apartment buildings of various styles including the eighty-storied one, and cultural and welfare service facilities which have been laid out for the convenience of the residents, as well as several parks, overhead bridge and decorative structures of peculiar styles, which have formed a good artistic combination with the residential areas.

Shortly afterwards, the inaugural ceremony of the Pothong riverside terraced houses district was held.

The terraced houses district with 800 flats was built in Kyongru-dong, true to the ennobling intention of Kim Jong Un to provide wonderful homes to the labour innovators in various sectors, persons of distinguished services, scientists, educators, writers and other working people in the capital city of Pyongyang who have been devoting themselves to the Party and the state.

After cutting the ribbon at the inaugural ceremony, he visited the new houses in the district and posed for photographs with the families who had moved to them. When he visited the home of an old meritorious woman, he concerned himself with the stairs in her house, fearing that they might cause her some inconvenience in going up and down.

What draws particular attention is the fact that the users of the new street and residential district are all ordinary working citizens.

Kyongru-dong and Songhwa Street seethed with the citizens dancing in a great joy of moving into new houses and the people’s voices of gratitude and their merry laughter reverberated throughout the country.

The Korean people have significantly celebrated the Day of the Sun (April 15–birthday of President Kim Il Sung ).

The national meeting and a public procession of Pyongyang citizens in celebration of the 110th birth anniversary of Kim Il Sung took place in the presence of Kim Jong Un . They clearly demonstrated the revolutionary spirit and will of the Korean people to hold Kim Il Sung in the highest esteem as the eternal Sun of Juche and add brilliance to his immortal ideology and exploits, and achieve the comprehensive prosperity and development of Korean-style socialism, faithfully supporting the leadership of Kim Jong Un .

The 32nd April Spring Friendship Art Festival was held in the way of presenting video recordings of performances by famous art troupes and artists of different countries across the world on the Internet. The festival fully reflected the desire and aspiration of peoples in the five continents to celebrate the Day of the Sun as a holiday common to humankind and a great political festival.

In addition, the 7th April Spring People’s Art Festival, a week-long film show, a state art exhibition and other colourful celebration events took place.

On the evening of April 15, a soiree of youth and students took place at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang and fireworks were set off, splendidly decorating the nocturnal sky over the city.

Commemorative coins were minted and awarded to meritorious people, including lathe operators, tunneling workers, farmers, teachers and scientists who have devotedly worked for their country and people for several decades.

The colourful celebrations held in various parts of the country clearly showed that the history of the preceding leaders is being carried forward in its pure form and that a new era of building a powerful country is being ushered in in the country.

On the night of April 25 a military parade was held at Kim Il Sung Square in celebration of the 90th founding anniversary of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army, crowning the events in April and shaking the world.

When Kim Jong Un mounted the platform in the uniform of the marshal of the DPRK, all the people across the country, including the officers and men of the units participating in the parade and those attending the celebrations broke into cheers full of boundless excitement and joy.

The parade was an unprecedented one.

Following the parade troops demonstrating the revolutionary character and eternal mission of the armed forces of the country, the planes buzzing and zooming past the sky above the square while setting off fireworks and absolute weaponry that epitomize the progressive, modern and heroic character of the country, awe-inspiring ICBM Hwasongpho-17 which represents the strategic forces of the Republic passed the square demonstrating the absolute power of Juche Korea and its strategic position to the world.

The parade constituted a great event to be etched in golden letters in the 90-year history of the Juche-based revolutionary armed forces and marked a historic occasion of great significance which demonstrated once again the inexhaustible power and invincible spirit of the country that celebrated great victory and is advancing towards a more glorious future.

In the celebratory speech he delivered prior to the parade, Kim Jong Un said: The glorious 90-year journey our revolutionary armed forces have traveled safeguarding the prosperity and development of the country by force of arms, should be continued for another hundred, nay a thousand years; in the era we are living in now, we should continue to exalt the glory of the powerful army and change to be more powerful at a fast speed incomparable with the past 90 years.

April in the DPRK was a month full of great revolutionary events through which the Korean people have realized more keenly than ever before the blessings of having the great leader they enjoy generation after generation and it was a significant one which powerfully demonstrated the greatness of the people-first politics of the WPK and the might and invincible spirit of socialist Korea.
