The Chongjin Steel Works is consolidating its foundations for production as part of the country’s efforts to put its metallurgical industry on a Juche basis.
In late March, it successfully completed the overhaul of revolving furnace No. 3, taking a big step forward in its reinforcement and readjustment drive.
The overhaul was 1.5 times the previous one in workload.
The whole furnace body needed to be newly manufactured and installed, with scores of facilities rearranged according to each system.
By conducting a dynamic socialist emulation drive, the factory finished the furnace body welding in seven days, a workload which would have normally taken 16 days.
It also halved the furnace body assembly and installation period in such a way that assembled several parts on the ground and installed them as a whole, giving up the previous method of fixing up every part one by one.
In addition, it adopted a rational approach to carry out in a week the furnace construction, which would have otherwise taken 20 days, thus completing the overhaul successfully and providing a sure guarantee for boosting production.
