Recently, the 50 th Session of the UN Human Rights Council held a high-level discussion on countering negative impact of disinformation on the enjoyment of human rights.

Many countries including China, Russia, Cuba, Syria and Iran, scathingly denounced the U.S. and the West for their grave human rights violation which persist in inventing disinformation.

They asserted that the U.S. and the West are creating social unrest and inciting violence by spreading massive disinformation, which distorts and fabricates the human rights situation of other countries, in a bid to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states and to overthrow systems. They also gave reproachful remarks that such acts run counter to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter that require respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and the right to self-determination.

It is all too fair and reasonable argument and judgement.

Now the U.S. and the West pour large sums of money into vicious smear campaigns against the socio-political system of the countries of their dislike by spreading disinformation via their media on government payroll, institutes and NGOs.

Such smear campaigns give rise to series of wars, conflicts, turmoil and disorder in various countries and regions of the world.

Typical examples are the wars against Iraq and Afghanistan which were waged under the pretext of alleged removal of WMD and “counter-terrorism”. These examples generated death of numerous innocent people and the procession of tens of millions of refugees reminiscent of “mass exodus” causing a great human rights disturbance.

The U.S., targeting the independent countries against imperialism, annually fabricates all kinds of reports on human rights situation such as “country reports on human rights”, “religious freedom report” and "report on trafficking in persons” which are crammed with falsehood and fabrication.

The U.S. enacted and enforced "Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act” against China. Since the Ukrainian crisis broke out, it has been fabricating “human rights violation” materials in a bid to brand Russia as an “anti-humanity criminal state”.

The disinformation campaign of the U.S. and the West is aimed at fabricating “human rights issues” of the countries which are disobedient to them. It is also aimed at making an excuse for interference, pressure and aggression. This disinformation campaign has come to a pretty pass which admits of no further connivance.

The reality clearly shows that the U.S. and the West, wearing the mask of “democracy” and “human rights defender”, are indeed masters at conspiracy and fabrication as well as the disturbers of global peace and security who inflict only misfortune, pain and disaster on humankind by violating and obliterating human rights.

The international society should remain vigilant about the tricky disinformation campaign of the U.S. and the West who are deceiving the world.
