What Does the Past One-Year Record of “AUKUS” Show (2)

West Coast Exchange, North Korea Watcher Conference, Sept. 2026

“AUKUS”, from the very beginning of its creation, has been the target of condemnation and criticism from many countries as it posed a serious danger to nuclear non-proliferation and the peace and stability of the Asia-Pacific region and of the entire globe.

At several meetings of the United Nations Security Council this year, China and Russia disclosed that the U.S., the U.K. and Australia openly violated the Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) through “AUKUS”: And in June, at the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, they condemned the nuclear states for setting the first precedents of openly transferring nuclear technology to a non-nuclear state.

At the 10 th Review Conference of the Parties to the NPT held at the United Nations headquarters from August 1 to 26, China revealed that the attempt of the U.S. to transfer highly enriched uranium to a non-nuclear state under the pretext of cooperation of the nuclear-powered submarine technology constitutes an undisguised breach of the nuclear non-proliferation system as well as the evident practice of double standard.

The media with fair opinion is also raising voice of condemning the misbehavior of the U.S. as an “extremely irresponsible act of abandoning the regulations and obligations of nuclear non-proliferation” and as a “manifestation of double standard heavily inclined to Cold War mentality”.

Nevertheless, the U.S. is unreasonably insisting that it does not go against the NPT because it provides Australia with the technology for building nuclear-powered submarines, not with the nuclear weapon itself.

The one-year record of “AUKUS” graphically demonstrates that the U.S. is the main culprit in the nuclear proliferation, which does not hesitate to do anything in pursuit of its wild ambition for world hegemony.
