Watching weightlifters fly the DPRK flag in the sky over the world on TV in her childhood, Choe Hyo Sim, weightlifter of the Kigwancha Sports Club who is Kim Il Sung Youth Honour Prize winner and Merited Athlete, dreamed of becoming an excellent athlete, world-class weightlifting ace, to exalt the honour of her country in the future without fail.
Being enrolled at the well-organized reserve athletes training system of the country, she practised basic techniques of weightlifting. In 2008 she began her career as weightlifter at the sports club. She trained hard to attain her unusually high goal. So coaches and other athletes called her a passionate girl and eager beaver.
While honing her physical and technical skills through intensive training, she acquired her special ability in jerk to take an honourable place among the ranks of weightlifting stars in the world.
Choe, who became familiar to the people for her calm and composed attitudes in matches, grabbed 32 medals, including 11 golds, at 14 international competitions like the 31st Olympic Games and the 2019 IWF World Weightlifting Championships, thus exalting the honour of the country.
After winning different national games in 2021, she finished her playing career in December.
