The 52nd sports contest of artistes took place at the Basketball Gymnasium on Chongchun Street in Pyongyang on November 29.
Divided into the sectors of filming and performing arts, the contestants competed in basketball, volleyball, table tennis, tug of war, ssirum (Korean wrestling) and a variety of other sports and amusement games.
They gave full play to their sports skills, strong sense of organization and discipline, noble sportsmanship and fair play, which they cultivated in ordinary times, in every contest.
There were seesaw battles in ball sports, group running demonstrating the might of unity while helping and leading one another forward, ssirum games employing belly throw, knee-whack and other skills to outrival opponents and other sports. Spectators extended unsparing applause to them.
The filming sector won the tug of war, which climaxed the sports contest, by displaying collective spirit and stubborn perseverance.
The sector of performing arts topped the total rankings at the contest.
The 52nd sports contest of artistes demonstrated well the revolutionary enthusiasm and high sports zeal of officials and creative and performing artists in the sector of culture and arts, who are conducting brisk creative activities for kindling the new flames of revolution in literature and the arts, true to the ideas and spirit of the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea and plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee.
