The 11th Sports Gamesof Public Health Workers opened in Pyongyang.
The sports contestwill be held at Pyongyang Indoor Stadium and other places of the city, dividedinto two groups. Competitions will take place in such events as basketball(men), volleyball (men and women), table tennis, tennis, badminton, tug-of-warand Taekwon-Do.
An opening ceremonytook place at Pyongyang Indoor Stadium on April 19.
Present there wereVice-Premier Jon Sung Guk, Department Director of the Central Committee of theWorkers' Party of Korea Choe Tong Myong, officials concerned, officials andplayers in the field of public health, and employees of central-level hospitalsand the Academy of Medical Sciences.
Pak Hak Gyong,vice-minister of Public Health, made an opening address.
He stressed that all health workers participating inthe games should display high sports techniques, the sense of organization and unityof the collective and noble sportsmanship and fair play.
At the end of theceremony, there were a march-past of the players and a men's volleyball game between the Namsan Hospitaland Okryu Children's Hospital teams.
