On May 22Juche 70(1981), President Kim Il Sung, accompanied by officials, wentaboard a ship for the waters off Nampho in order to earmark the site for the WestSea Barrage to be built.
When the shipreached the place he had fixed inwardly, the accompanying officials heaved asigh of admiration in spite of themselves.
That was wherethe water of the Taedong River meets that of the West Sea of Korea.
Feasting hiseyes on the vast sea and the riverside for a while, he said with satisfactionthat it was the best place for a barrage.
The officialswere also filled with exultation and excitement.
It was justthe location for barrage which could be chosen only by the President with amatchless, rare insight and extraordinary wisdom.
He had thoughtover and over again of numerous problems that should be taken into account inlocating the barrage and finally decided on the site that day, hence thepresent location of the West Sea Barrage.
Thismonumental structure still admired by the world people is just thecrystallization of the extraordinary wisdom and ennobling devotion of thePresident.
