Ryulgok Senior Middle School in Songyo District, Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, is better known as "Oriole School" across the country.
Both children and adults admire the theme songs of red-hot animations, especially the clear and resounding singing. The singers are the students of the children's music classes at the school.
People say that they get amused and feel younger when they listen to the songs sung by children full of joy, delight and optimism while watching the animations. They lavish praise on the educators of the school, saying they are competent enough to train the "orioles".
Among the educators is Han Song Hui, chief of the children's music classes at the school.
Han in her teens established her fame as a little singer as she sang theme songs in dozens of animations, including The Clever Raccoon Dog .
Since she graduated from Pyongyang Teachers Training College more than 30 years ago, she has taught at her alma mater devoting herself to training young singers to perform in children's music and music videos.
She has ensured that tutoring is personalized to help improve each student’s skills and depiction levels in conformity with his or her psychological characteristics and personalities, while putting in time and effort to find the tone colours suited to the juvenile mind and favoured by the audience.
In particular, she has introduced a new vocal method that helps enhance the scene effects remarkably and agrees with the sentiments of the audience, making a great contribution to the development of Korean-style children's music.
For her unusual credentials, which enable her to bring together the feelings of every singer and raise them to a new high, people say that she was born for the education of children's music.
Now many of her students have grown up to be vocalists at prestigious art troupes and educators.
In recognition of her contribution to training music prodigies, she has been honoured with Merited Teacher and invited as a delegate to national conferences and celebrations.
