Cement production units across the country are registering good results.
The Sangwon Cement Complex, determined to produce hundreds of thousands more tons of cement this year, is attaining its daily clinker and cement production targets by 105% and over 114% respectively as against the same period of 2024, when clinker production topped the peak year level.
Upon the news about the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held in late December last year, the workers at the complex set a higher goal of boosting cement production by more than 10 times the amount of the increased output of last year. This goal will be a challenging task for the complex that has exceeded the peak year level several times in recent years since its inauguration.
Regarding it as the way to attach importance to science and technology, the complex is pushing ahead with the effort to carry out uphill task with the existing capacity on the strength of science and technology.
The ore and coal mines in charge of the supply of raw materials are working to raise the grade of products and reduce their particle size.
The Sangwon Limestone Mine carried out three rounds of blast in a row on January 4 alone, securing 200 000 tons of limestone deposits and laying a foundation for supplying the main raw material in high quality.
The Ilchulbong Mine also secured huge deposits by conducting a series of blast during the first week of the year, and it is registering a 50% increase on average in daily production and transport of ore.
The Samchong Mine and the Hwachon Coal Mine are striving to increase the output.
The Sunchon Limestone Mine and the Manpho August 2 Cement Factory successfully implemented 200 000- and 100 000-cubic-metre blasts, making it possible to satisfy the growing needs for cement essential for economic development and improvement of people’s livelihood.
