Regarding the Workers’ Party of Korea’s idea of achieving prosperity by dint of self-reliance as the motive force of advance, the Korean people are bringing about epoch-making changes while braving unprecedented difficulties.

In his speech in the inauguration ceremony of the dwelling houses in the flood-hit areas in North Phyongan Province on December 21 last year, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un earnestly said: If we had pinned hope on the assistance from others, there would not have been the dignity we are all now feeling, not to mention these wonderful transformations.

What he said means that the overflowing pride and dignity of the Korean people lie in the work attitude of self-reliance and the spirit of self-sustenance that all the creative work and construction should be undertaken and pushed forward by relying on their own efforts.

Now they have many things in short supply and face harsh trials and challenges that hinder the advance of their revolution. However, they are breaking through all of them with unyielding fighting spirit and confidence in victory that there is no fortress they cannot conquer and no difficulty they cannot overcome as long as they struggle upholding the banner of self-reliance.

The indomitable revolutionary zeal which they fully demonstrate in the spirit of self-reliance can be felt at the construction site of the third-stage project for 10 000 flats in the Hwasong area in the capital city which will form another ideal street of the people, and through the modern houses built in socialist rural communities and the regional-industry factories built in the cities and counties.

This reality is unthinkable apart from the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who, cherishing the invariable will to open up an avenue for prosperity and bring earlier a rosy future by our own efforts, inculcates the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and fortitude in the minds of all the Korean people.

In the inauguration ceremony of the Kangdong Combined Greenhouse Farm in March last year he said that the eye-opening transformation in the Kangdong area is an epitome of the worthwhile struggle of creation of our own style which is growing intense in the spirit of self-reliance and self-existence. And when looking round the newly-built modern Sinpho City Offshore Farm at the end of last year, he emphasized that it is important for everyone to fully realize that the key to self-reliance and self-sustenance is in themselves, rather than talking about it in words, and put it into practice.

Thanks to his noble intention, eye-opening changes take place one after another on this land.

Seeing the proud results of their creative struggle, the Korean people keenly realize the great vitality of self-reliance and harden their resolve to dynamically advance along the road of achieving prosperity by dint of self-reliance.
