Pyongyang Teachers Training College has recently achieved remarkable successes by concentrating efforts on improving the teaching contents and methods.
The college introduced the research-oriented teaching and studying methods aimed at helping students acquire broad knowledge and develop their research and study faculties.
And it added new subjects to every course, involved the students in scientific and research work and increased the proportion of practical education, so as to improve their abilities of research, cooperation and practice. It also organized foreign language presentations and competitions in various forms and methods.
As part of efforts to develop and introduce modern teaching means, it developed and introduced the VR lecture system for improving the students’ practical teaching abilities and the robots for helping the lecture and study of teachers and students.
In addition, the college created many teaching methods for foreign language study, super speed reading and abacus calculation in keeping with the psychological features of kindergarteners and primary schoolers. Those methods are very effective for the early intellectual development of children as they give the learners easy understanding and arouse their interest.
In the course of this, the college developed education support programs based on VR and AR techniques which were highly appreciated in national IT achievements exhibitions. It was chosen as one of top ten IT model units in 2018, 2022 and 2024.
Besides, it has played the role as a pedagogical research and dissemination centre by generalizing superior and advanced teaching methods and materials for preschool and primary school education across other teachers training colleges in the country.
In order to reduce the gap in educational level between the central and local areas and between urban and rural communities, the college made dozens of robots conducive to teaching and sent them to the colleges, schools and branch schools in Pyongyang and other parts of the country.
Many teachers at the college have won the certificate of registration of new teaching method and the title of October 8 Model Teacher and held academic degrees and titles. Some became polyglots.
And the college gives in-service training to the teachers from primary schools and kindergartens in Pyongyang as well as other colleges across the country.
