Recently the products from the Pyongyang School Things Factory are drawing attention of students and parents.
“Our factory has established a system of developing and producing new goods in keeping with the global trend and the intellectual development of students. Currently we are working to develop electronic school things,” said So Ok Sim, a staffer of the factory.
Among the new products are a portable writing pad, an arithmetical problem stamp and a three-dimensional drawing pencil.
In general, students consume a lot of paper every term to work out review problems of different subjects and draw pictures. But the portable writing pad helps them save notebooks and paper. In addition, it is easy to use.
The arithmetical problem stamp based on the working principle of a mimeograph also enjoys popularity.
In the past the teachers and parents had to write something on paper in order to check the understanding of their students and children of arithmetical calculations. But the stamp relieves them of such trouble.
Hundreds of figures and symbols of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are carved on a small shaft in the machine. When the shaft is rolled on paper, any arithmetic statement is printed on it. The students are to fill in the blanks to complete the statement.
The three-dimensional drawing pencil is not an ordinary one for drawing or writing, but a tool for producing a stereoscopic model of any object, which enhances students’ observation and conception.
When students draw a boat, a vehicle, an amusement facility in a recreation park or any other objects on a sheet of paper using this pencil, they can get the profiles of the relevant plastic object. Combining these sections, they can reproduce a three-dimensional image of the object they want.
“The system of developing and producing new products guarantees new and steady development and innovation of my factory,” said Ri Kyong Jin, manager of the factory.
