Remarkable progress has been made in recent years in the effort to upgrade the level of putting agricultural production on a scientific and IT basis.
Every ri across the country has access to the information and communications infrastructure, and a scientific guidance and management system is in place.
Farms both in the plain and mountainous areas have joined the online video conferencing system and the agricultural management information system through the national network, bringing about good results in production.
Positive changes are taking place in the drive to improve the level of informatization of farming.
Huge databases such as those for digital plot map, weather patterns and soil survey and analysis have been established to provide a guarantee for upgrading the level of informatization of farming.
In addition, a variety of information technology have been used to distribute crops and species across the country in a rational manner and evaluate and forecast in a scientific way the farming processes by plot and season, growth of crops, outbreak of pests, damages by drought and other extreme weather conditions and crop yields.
The digital plot map and other programs are in wide use and sci-tech dissemination and online Q&A services are available both on platforms and apps.
The national crop estimation system based on satellite-beamed information analysis technology and crop growth simulation technology contributes to putting farming on a scientific basis.
Yomju County of North Phyongan Province has set up an information system capable of keeping the fields under effective control and taking prompt measures against different situations, while Mundok County of South Phyongan Province has introduced a program for supporting water management to make a digital map that contains the locations and features of water resources and irrigation facilities.
The Samjigang Farm in Jaeryong County, South Hwanghae Province, Yakjon Farm in Sukchon County, South Phyongan Province, and other farms are proactively applying latest information technology.
