In recent years a number of new saving techniques have been successfully applied to the construction field including the project of building 50 000 flats in the capital city of Pyongyang.
Pyongyang University of Architecture developed an effective method of using less reinforcement bars.
The scientists of the university have worked out an optimal method of arrangement of reinforcement bars to significantly cut the consumption of reinforcement bars while ensuring the structural stability of buildings with reinforced concrete walls to the maximum.
The method has been employed in the construction projects including those of Songhwa and Hwasong streets. This resulted in remarkable reduction in reinforcement bar consumption and workforce and cost for operating machines for bar processing.
A construction company has established a construction method of laying the roadbed with stony soil while using no mixed aggregate and gravel.
The method proved to be successful as it helps shorten the construction period considerably and save fuel needed for the roadbed construction, as compared with the method using mixed aggregate and gravel.
In addition, an automatic tile facing machine by using sucker, vibrator and timer has been introduced to housing construction. It no longer requires manual labour and thereby saves a lot of time and manpower.
