The volleyball group of Phyongchon District Extracurricular Sports School in Pyongyang is drawing the interest of experts.
Five years ago the group was not so good.
The school replaced instructors with competent personnel like Ri Jong Im who had acquitted herself in domestic and international competitions, and directed efforts to drastically improving education.
After making an in-depth study of the global trend of sports development and advanced teaching methods, the instructors applied them into educational practice and shared each other’s experience.
They recruited group members in a scientific manner and customized and executed training plans to suit the physical constitution, age and psychological features of each student.
They taught the group members such rudiments as walking, running, jumping and striking and made sure that they developed correct judgement and trained moving, and receiving, serving and spiking the ball.
On this basis, they buckled down to completing the team’s tactics by conducting training in the same atmosphere as the competition.
The weekly match of the group members and home and away matches with other schools’ teams helped the students refine their skills and the team polish up its tactics for attack and defence.
This led to remarkable successes.
The Phyongchon District team won the women’s volleyball event (juvenile category) at the then 59th national juvenile sports schools competition in 2023.
