Nanotechnology, one of the core and basic technologies, has been making significant progress in the DPRK.
It was highlighted by the National Sci-tech Exhibition of Nanotechnology Sector-2025.
According to Paek Un Yong, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea, the exhibition showcased a new qualitative leap in the fields of advanced science and technology including new materials technology and new energy technology and in the overall economic sectors such as metallurgical, power and light industries and agriculture.
What stood out in the event are technologies and methods for mass-producing quality nanomaterials.
As regards the technique of making graphene, symbolic of nanomaterials, the method of its manufacture and the starting materials have become more diverse. A method presented by Kim Il Sung University has a bright prospect for application.
A research team of the Nano Engineering Branch of the State Academy of Sciences has developed a biological binding agent, opening up a prospect for solving the problem of refractory materials badly needed in the metallurgical industry.
The Nano Sci-tech Institute of Kim Chaek University of Technology has developed a nano composite plastic belt with good mechanical properties and introduced it into many combined threshers. For its good quality an increasing number of units are introducing it.
The Unha Nanotechnology Pharmaceutical Manufactory has developed over 10 kinds of nano-medicines and nano-health foods.
Nano-additives for agrochemicals and hard-alloy tools and other achievements open up new vistas for frontier areas.
Besides, papers which have been presented to prestigious international journals and international seminars in the field of nano science and technology were presented to the exhibition.
