One day in September 2015, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un inspected the rehabilitation site of a flood-stricken area in Rason, the northernmost city of the DPRK.
On hearing a report that the city was hit by flood, he had instantly taken a measure to push ahead with the rehabilitation as an endeavour involving the entire Party, the whole nation and all the army. Not content with this, he had travelled a long way to the site by plane, by ship and by car.
Looking round the reconstruction site, he said that he had not been able to sleep worrying about the displaced flood victims and he had come as he thought he would feel relieved only when he looked round the reconstruction site by himself.
Officials told him that the state had provided so many foods and daily necessities that the victims’ life had returned to normalcy.
He said: It is the natural duty of the WPK to carry full responsibility for and take good care of the destiny of the people President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il had regarded as heaven. We should not feel satisfied in the work for the people. It is my intention to have more decent and modern houses than their previous ones built for the victims. Our people, who remain loyal to our Party with one mind and firm trust despite the lapse of time and the shift of generations, are the best people in the world. With the trust and expectation of these fine people always in mind, we should make devoted efforts to bring a rosy future to them.
Later, modern houses sprang up in the afflicted area, and the victims moved to them all at once on the same day.
