The Constitution of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), since its enactment and promulgation, has pushed forward the steady progress and development of our state-building and has creditably fulfilled its mission as a mighty weapon that safeguards and ensures the people’s rights and interests.
The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung established a valuable tradition in building a people’s government during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle. With a detailed consideration of the situation and the development of revolution after liberation, he wisely led the enforcement of a democratic constitution that fully embodies the idea of Believing in People as in Heaven.
Thanks to the wise leadership of Comrade Kim Il Sung , the Constitution of the DPRK codified the successes made in the fields of politics, economy and culture. It was developed into a legal guarantee for fully and substantially ensuring democratic rights and freedom of the people and a legal weapon for accomplishing the independent cause of the popular masses, the cause of socialism.
Having inherited the ardent love for the country and the people and the noble patriotism cherished by President Kim Il Sung , Chairman Kim Jong Il provided energetic guidance for the development of the state law and tightening of law-observance in every development stage of the revolution throughout his revolutionary leadership.
Chairman Kim Jong Il developed the DPRK Constitution into Kim Il Sung Constitution that codified the Juche-oriented state-building idea and exploits of President Kim Il Sung . Thus, the history of original establishment of constitution continues to be recorded forever.
Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un understood the significance and importance of laying a solid legal foundation in accelerating the building of a powerful prosperous country, and named our Constitution Kim Il Sung - Kim Jong Il Constitution and clarified the theoretical and practical issues arising in enacting Juche-oriented law.
Cherishing the absolute value of the DPRK Constitution, a genuine law for the people, which has driven the steady advance of the building of a powerful socialist country of Juche, our people will dynamically open up a phase of comprehensive development of Korean-style socialism by upholding single-heartedly the leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .
