According to the decisions made at the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, projects for readjustment and reinforcement of production foundations have proceeded apace in the overall national economy.
This year the power industry sector has taken technical measures for the projects for readjustment and reinforcement to lay the foundations for long-term development.
The Pukchang Thermal Power Complex pushed ahead with the renovation and modernization of generator No. 3 and the overhaul of equipment to increase the operation days per ignition, and the Pyongyang Thermal Power Station overhauled turbine generators and introduced a brown coal-based and heavy oil-free ignition technique.
The East Pyongyang Thermal Power Station renovated a condensed water pump in a rational way and transformed other equipment into energy-saving ones while the Sunchon Thermal Power Station finished a project to reuse the waste gas heat from boiler No. 2.
The reconstruction of the Jangjagang Power Station was successfully completed.
Large-scale hydropower stations finished the planned overhaul of equipment and the readjustment and reinforcement of structures, and improved the scientific level of water control by employing an integrated water control support system, a real-time efficiency measurement system, a digital speed regulator and a digital filter.
The Kumya Hydraulic Electric Power Generating Equipment Factory manufactured a high-performance X-type water wheel and introduced it into relevant hydropower stations to raise the generating efficiency far more than before.
While laying superhigh-voltage transmission lines in real earnest, the power transmission and transformation sector wrapped up the erection of pylons in dozens of kilometres of section and set out to lay electric cables.
Thanks to the efforts of the power industry workers across the country, this year’s projects for readjustment and reinforcement of generating equipment and power transmission and transformation systems have been completed in the main, resulting in an increase of over 100 000 kW in output compared with last year.
