Inhung Polyclinic in Moranbong District, Pyongyang, is contributing to the promotion of the residents’ health by making its medical workers enhance their role in taking care of the households under their charge.
The credit goes to the residents’ health care system.
According to Ryang Sam Ok, director of the polyclinic, the residents’ health care system already put in place at the curative and preventive institutions across the country contains a database of the detailed information about the residents’ health conditions such as chronic diseases, vaccination, diagnosis and treatment by family, sex, age and occupation.
Medical workers in charge of households use this system to learn in detail about the residents under their charge and provide medical service to them. In particular, when a resident falls ill while on a business trip, they send his or her information to the relevant hospital so that a correct diagnosis can be made for treatment.
They discover chronically ill cases and take necessary measures while diagnosing and treating visitors, and direct special efforts to the treatment of war veterans, honoured disabled soldiers and maternity women.
They go over to the areas under their charge to conduct hygienic information activities.
They explain to the residents in simple terms the knowledge of the diseases that may break out in the periods between seasons and the preventive treatment and other common health information so that they can take good care of their health.
They often conduct preventive checkups for the elderly and children and take treatment measures for abnormal symptoms in time.
The polyclinic frequently organizes meetings for its medical workers to share clinical experience and achievements in treatment and consult with each other over cases.
It has invented various medical instruments such as electronic spray inhaler, semiconductor laser therapy device and portable waist masseur and applied them to treatment.
