In March last year, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un made his first official goodwill visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

During the visit, he affirmed his will to further develop the bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation in line with the requirements of the new era and join hands with the Vietnamese in the sacred struggle for ensuring the wellbeing and a bright future for the peoples of the two countries.

Vietnamese President Nguyen Phu Trong said the Vietnamese party, government and people never forget but are always thankful to the fact that the DPRK gave great support and encouragement to the struggle of his country for independence and national liberation. He expressed his stand to always attach importance to the bilateral relations and further promote the relations between the two parties and the two countries in the interests of the peoples of the two countries and for regional peace and stability.

The official goodwill visit of Kim Jong Un to Vietnam was of great significance in demonstrating the traditional friendly and cooperative relationship between the two parties and two countries sealed in blood in the struggle to realize their common aims and ideals under the unfurled banner of socialism and cemented in the crucible of severe trials, invariably carrying it forward from one century into the next and from generation to generation and further boosting the ties of friendship between the peoples.

It is the consistent stand of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the DPRK government to carry forward the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and the two parties through generations, true to the intentions of the preceding leaders.

In spite of the current complicated international situation, the Vietnamese people, rallied close behind their communist party, are making efforts to attain the “goals for rich people and a prosperous, democratic, fair and civilized state” under the uplifted banner of socialism.

As a producer and exporter of rice and a producer of coffee and natural rubber, Vietnam is systematically increasing state investment into the agricultural sector to steadily boost grain production. Relying on its favourable economic conditions, it is directing efforts to diversifying its trade and developing science and technology.

The Korean people value the relationship between the two countries invariably supported and cooperated with each other in the struggle for independence against imperialism and for socialism, and wish the Vietnamese people greater successes in their socialist construction.
