The Pyongyang Children’s Department Store was renovated at the same time as the construction of Changjon Street.
Inside the building there is a playing area of a unique design, which always bustles with children.
It was in May in Juche 101 (2012) that Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visited the Pyongyang Children’s Department Store.
Looking round the department store, he stressed that inside it there should be a playing area for children.
It was quite a surprise to the accompanying officials as they had thought he would give valuable instructions concerning the management activities of the department.
Kim Jong Un explained that while adults were doing the rounds of the counters to buy goods, children could spend their time in that playing area.
They were impressed by his affection to make visitors with their children feel no inconvenience.
After a while he said in detail that the playing area should not be built in a separated room but in a hall or an appropriate section with playing equipment favoured by children.
After his visit, he had many recreational apparatuses sent to it.
Thanks to his benevolence excellent indoor playing area was built on every floor, representing a fairy-tale paradise .
