The Workers’ Party of Korea, which regards the people-first principle as its lifeblood, takes one crucial measure after another for the benefit of the people.
Nothing should be spared
Between August 29 and September 2, Juche 105 (2016), a strongest-ever storm and heaviest downpour, the first of their kinds in meteorological observation in 71 years, hit the areas along the Tuman River in the northern tip of the DPRK, bringing great calamities to economic development and people’s living in North Hamgyong Province.
To address the prevailing situation, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , in the name of the WPK Central Committee, issued an appeal to all Party members, service personnel and other people that nothing should be spared in making the flood victims not suffer from the impending winter cold even if it would mean using up the country’s coffers. In hearty response to his appeal, all human, material and technical potentials of the country were concentrated on the rehabilitation projects.
In a little more than two months, over 11 900 houses, more than 100 nurseries, kindergartens, schools, hospitals and clinics were built, some 15 000 houses were repaired, and the projects of improving the Tuman River embankment and other rivers and the reconstruction of railways, roads and bridges were crowned with success in the northern part of the province. In those days, schoolchildren in the afflicted areas enjoyed themselves at the Songdowon International Children’s Camp.
For ensuring people’s interests and safety
In Juche 109 (2020) alone, the WPK took important measures in succession for securing the people’s interests and safety.
The WPK Central Committee held its politburo enlarged meeting and emergency politburo enlarged meeting and several other meetings to discuss as a major agenda item the issues of blocking the inflow and spread of worldwide pandemic COVID-19 and protecting the people’s life and security.
Measures were taken continuously to alleviate the people’s misfortune as early as possible, when floods and typhoons caused by a seasonal rainy front hit various parts of the country.
After receiving the report on the situation in the Taechong-ri area in Unpha County, North Hwanghae Province, where many houses and a large area of land under cultivation were inundated, Kim Jong Un drove his car to the spot to take emergency measures for stabilizing the living of flood victims.
True to his intention that it is one of the top-priority tasks to be surely carried out by the Party to go deep among the people to share weal and woe with them and encourage and sincerely help them when they are experiencing troubles and difficulties, officials of the WPK Central Committee went to the typhoon-stricken areas in South Hwanghae Province and the divisions, involving 12 000 Party members in the capital city of Pyongyang, were dispatched immediately to the reconstruction sites in North and South Hamgyong provinces.
A long-cherished desire
The work for the younger generation is the most important of the affairs of the WPK.
The Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth WPK Central Committee held in June Juche 110 (2021) discussed as an important agenda item the issue of improving the Party’s childcare policy.
At the meeting General Secretary Kim Jong Un of the WPK stressed that there is no more important revolutionary undertaking than that of bringing up children, the future of the country, to be strong and sound, and that it is the most important policy and a long-cherished desire of the WPK and the state to provide more improved conditions for raising them even by investing huge sums of money.
In accordance with the WPK’s important policy on supplying nutritious foods including dairy products to children at nurseries and kindergartens across the country at state expense, the agricultural sector directs due efforts to increasing the number of milch cows and goats extensively and producing larger amounts of dairy products.
In his policy speech delivered at the Fifth Session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK held most recently, Kim Jong Un said that the work of carrying out the WPK’s new childcare policy should be conducted in a substantial way so as to treble the nationwide milk production.
