Last year, So Myong Ae stole the limelight of experts in the national epidemic prevention and medical sci-tech presentation and exhibition-2022.
Being a researcher of the disease prevention control centre in Moranbong District, Pyongyang, she produced research findings conducive to making peptone, which is widely used as an analytical reagent, by relying on domestic protein resources.
When she set it as her research project, some of her colleagues doubted the feasibility of its production.
But she never gave it up, because peptone was an indispensable reagent for sample analysis at disease prevention control centres and, on top of that, it was imported from abroad.
She began to study many documents and inquired into chemical reaction and other unfamiliar sector of science, conducting hundreds of basic experiments. Despite repeated failures, she continued her research with a new determination.
Finally, she succeeded in making peptone extract from protein materials abundant in the country by means of high-pressure oven and other auxiliary appliances.
She made a tangible contribution to preventing enteric epidemics by introducing the research findings into many units in the capital city of Pyongyang and local areas.
She was highly appreciated in the above-said presentation and exhibition.
