Chairman Kim Jong Il (February 16, 1942—December 17, 2011) was always on field guidance trips for the country and people throughout his life.
In February 2009 he visited the then Ragwon Machine Complex.
Three months earlier he visited the complex. As the issue of manufacturing a 15 000㎥ oxygen plant came up, he visited again the complex over 400 kilometres away from the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex despite severe cold straight after he completed his field guidance to the latter, saying that he should go back to Ragwon.
The number of units visited by him between January and March that year was more than four times as against the same period of the previous year, and the number of units in a year totalled several hundred. His field guidance in this period was unprecedented in terms of the realm and scope as it covered all provinces of the country and various economic sectors and the people’s livelihood.
Throughout his revolutionary leadership he visited over 14 290 units across the country, travelling more than 669 844 km, about 17 times as long as the circumference of the earth.
One July day in 2012 the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said to some officials that as Chairman Kim Jong Il firmly believed in our people and the victorious future of the country as in himself, he worked devotedly all his life for the country and people with the most ardent love for them.
Thanks to the energetic leadership of the Chairman who made an incessant field guidance trip to each and every part of the country, the solid foundations for self-sufficient economy were laid.
