Memory contests took place this year, too, in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in a bid to enhance the intellectual faculties of university students.
The events saw some participants break global standards.
The seventh memory contest of university students in the field of teachers training held in July drew over 120 students selected from universities of education and teachers training colleges across the country.
The judgement was made at the same level as the World Memory Championships.
The contest was divided into 10 events such as abstract patterns, binary and decimal digits, faces and names, super speed memory of numbers, virtual events and dates and random words.
Those from Kim Hyong Jik University of Education which produced a lot of students with marvellous memory in the past, Chongjin O Jung Hup University of Education and Sariwon Ri Kye Sun University of Education stood out. Over 10 participants including Kim Il Hun from Kim Hyong Jik University of Education broke world standards.
