The DPRK Cabinet hosted a reception at the Okryu Restaurant in Pyongyang on October 2 to welcome the DPRK women’s football team who won the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The footballers were deeply moved as they were invited to the reception after meeting the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un they had longed to see even in dreams and having a photo taken with him.
Premier Kim Tok Hun made congratulatory remarks.
He warmly congratulated the footballers and coaches who shook the world women’s football circles with successive victories and lifted the trophy, thus injecting vitality to the advance of the country which is ushering in a new era of overall national development.
The news of their beating of the world’s powers brought great joy and pride to the Korean people, encouraging them to create new innovations, he noted.
He expressed belief that the players who displayed the bright prospects of the DPRK’s women’s football would win victory after victory in international games to firmly retain the Asian and world titles in the future, too.
Player Choe Il Son in her reply speech said with excitement that the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un was so pleased with the successes made by the Korean footballers he arranged special welcome and bestowed dream-like honour and happiness on them repeatedly.
She pledged to make greater successes in international games by training harder without resting on her laurels.
