One day in August 1966 the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung visited Kumbu-ri in Sakju County, North Phyongan Province. When he arrived at the village, he said that he would see the clinic first.
Looking round the officials of the clinic greeting him, he asked them if the clinic ran out of antibiotics.
When he was told by the officials that it had enough antibiotics, he said that availing himself of his visit to the clinic he would see if it had all the necessary medicines and asked them to put out all the antibiotics it had in store.
They piled the antibiotics on a table. Kim Il Sung took up an injection and went over its unit before asking the officials how much medicine the clinic was supplied with at a time. On hearing an answer, he said with satisfaction that the amount was sufficient.
Then he inquired if the clinic was short of medicines for a cold, digestants, medicines for external application and hand disinfectants.
He said that in order to bring up the children to be healthy and strong, vitamins should always be in store for them, adding that vitamins D and A and calcium pills should be supplied sufficiently.
Under the deep affection of Kim Il Sung for the people, the Workers’ Party of Korea’s policy on public health could be thoroughly implemented.
