May 21, 2024 witnessed the inauguration ceremony of newly-built Central Cadres Training School of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the highest institute for training Party cadres in the new era, in the capital city of Pyongyang in the presence of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .

In his speech delivered in celebration of its inauguration, he appreciated the sacred course and honourable title of the school which had fulfilled its mission as a reliable base for firmly preserving the integrity of the ranks of the Party cadres since its founding.

Shortly after liberating Korea from Japanese military rule on August 15, 1945, the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung founded the Workers’ Party of Korea on October 10, 1945, based on the backbone force he had built up during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.

The newly-born WPK had to rapidly expand its force and at the same time lay organizational and ideological and theoretical foundations, a prerequisite for developing itself into a socialist ruling party. To carry out these crucial tasks, it needed a large number of qualified cadres.

Referring to the need of a Party school, Kim Il Sung said: We badly need Party cadres, political cadres. We have to establish a university, but before it we must establish a school for training Party workers.

Although complicated problems cropped up, he attached great importance to establishing the Party school and energetically led the work to this end.

At that time the country was in economic difficulties and every penny counted. But he took measures to solve the problems of workforce for repairing structures and of building materials on a preferential basis and ease the shortage of teaching aids and ensured that officials of Party and government organs gave lectures for the time being.

One day in May 1946 he met senior officials of the then Information Department of the Party Central Committee to inquire about the issues arising in the establishment of the Party school. After examining all the textbooks newly compiled for the school, he said with satisfaction that the textbooks were good. Then he proposed naming the school Central Party School.

On June 1, 1946 the establishment of Central Party School with Kim Il Sung as its first principal was proclaimed.

At its inauguration ceremony held two days later, Kim Il Sung congratulated the first students and said: Central Party School is a communist college to train Party cadres who ought to become the mainstay in building the democratic, independent and sovereign state our people have longed for and in carrying out our revolution. The founding of this school is of very great importance for our Party’s development and the building of a democratic Korea.

At the ceremony celebrating the first anniversary of the founding of Central Party School on June 7, 1947, he delivered a speech titled, Let Us Become Excellent Party Officials As Required by the Party and People .

And in August 1948, he sent the graduates of the school his hand-written instructions, reading that they should become competent officials of the Party and the state, who work always among the people, standing in the vanguard of the people, for the independence and sovereignty of the country and the freedom and happiness of the people.

Nearly 80 years have passed since the school was founded.

In this period, it has produced many Party officials and talents, who played their skilful and steadfast part in all fields of Party and state building and revolutionary struggle, contributing to the victorious advance of the WPK and the Korean revolution and exalting the brilliance of the school’s annals.

Under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , the school is now creditably carrying out its mission as a political institution which trains the backbone of and successors to the WPK.
