The general education institutions in Pyongyang are making strenuous efforts to improve the quality of basic education.
Kang Pan Sok Senior Middle School directs primary efforts to enhancing the qualifications of the teachers.
It has updated teaching plans in such a way as to arouse the students’ enthusiasm for study and renewed the way of reviewing the teaching process so that the teachers could competitively participate in developing superior teaching methods.
In particular, it tries to make good preparations for teaching with focus put on ensuring students have a theoretical understanding of the essential knowledge that is expanding in scope and level as the grade advances.
Haeun Junior Middle School in Phyongchon District also works to improve the students’ performance by applying various methods.
It has made the teaching processes consistent with fresh contents so as to enhance the students’ abilities for thinking and cognition and realized the focalization in teaching in an effort to explore and apply effective teaching methods.
In addition, it makes sure that the teachers steadily improve their qualifications so that they can easily teach the students knowledge of basic science subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology, as well as foreign languages.
Pulgunbyol Primary School in Taesong District sees to it that teachers make an accurate analysis of the possession of the basic knowledge of each student and, on the basis of it, combine tailored guidance with extracurricular one, thus boosting the overall performance of the students.
Meanwhile, it methodologically works with parents to make them set a store by their children’s study and life and guide and assist them on a regular basis.
Chongnyu Kindergarten No. 1 in Taedonggang District, Sinhung Kindergarten No. 1 in Tongdaewon District and others work hard to improve the quality of basic education by actively adopting teaching methods suited to the children’s aptitudes, talents, ages and psychological features.
