Regions in the DPRK are changing their appearance every year.
Last year alone more than 32 000 houses were built in several hundred farms as part of the efforts to implement the programme of the rural revolution in the new era, with house-moving ceremonies taking place one after another. And the Komdok area, a large non-ferrous mineral ore production base, underwent a radical change.
The construction projects for 2025 that began with a groundbreaking ceremony held in February to build a hospital and leisure complex in Kangdong County as part of the efforts for the implementation of the Regional Development 20×10 Policy took less than a year to be completed. Therefore the Korean people greeted the second inauguration season in implementing the regional development policy last year.
Following the completion of a hospital, regional-industry factories and a leisure complex in Kangdong County and a hospital in Kusong City, new industrial establishments were consecutively inaugurated in several counties including Rangnim, Hwangju, Jangyon, Pukchang, Cholwon and Janggang.
This laid reliable foundations for the independent development of many cities and counties.
A resident in Cholwon County who attended the inauguration ceremony of regional-industry factories in the county said that he had never seen such an auspicious event since he was born and lived there and that there is no country in the world like his which builds new houses for ordinary working people and distributes them free of charge, as well as modern factories.
Change did not take place in the plain and mountainous cities and counties alone. For example, the Ragwon County Offshore Farm and the fishermen’s residential district were newly built in August last year according to the Workers’ Party of Korea’s policy on developing fishery industry in the coastal cities and counties to meet the natural and geological features of the country bordered on two sides by the East and West seas so as to consolidate the independent foundations of their regional economy and improve the material life of their residents.
