Pang Un Hui, section chief with a master’s degree at Pyongyang Foreign Languages School, is making her mark in improving students’ academic performance.
She graduated from Pyongyang University of Foreign Studies with excellent marks and finished a postgraduate course. She had dreams and a chance to engage in a job related to foreign affairs.
However, she made up her mind to become a teacher like her father who was teaching at Kim Hyong Jik University of Education. Since then, she has made strenuous efforts to acquire high qualifications.
To help students improve their speaking skills, she made sure that they regularly write diaries in foreign languages and encouraged them to speak foreign languages during outdoor activities.
As a result, her students set an example in the efforts to possess multilingual skills as they excelled at the school’s multilingual contests by presenting such writings as “My Family,” “Our School” and “My Hope” in English and Chinese.
She has made a positive contribution to her school having 18 consecutive wins in the academic contest of the provincial foreign languages schools since 2005.
Her section is now a role model at the school, which is unthinkable apart from her painstaking efforts to improve the qualifications of teachers in her section.
She frequently organized meetings under the theme of “Various teaching methods applicable to the English hearing subject” to help teachers enhance their ability. In the course of this, she has trained some colleagues to obtain a master’s degree.
For over 20 years she has made tens of teaching aids and various multimedia presentations and received a dozen certificates of registration of educational science achievements.
She was nominated as one of the top ten teachers in 2023.
