A DPRK’s comprehensive producer of artworks, the Mansudae Art Studio (founded on November 17, 1959) has recently produced many artworks of national value.
Oil paintings “Finding Pleasure in People’s Happiness” and “Bringing about a Bumper Harvest on the Socialist Land,” Korean paintings “To Provide a Modern Chicken Farm to the People” and “Holding up War Veterans as Invaluable Revolutionary Forerunners” and others show the wise guidance and noble virtues of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who makes tireless efforts for the good of the people while finding his pleasure in their happiness.
As they vividly depict the vibrant socialist construction sites and the happy life of the Korean people on the basis of ceaseless inquiry into reality and thinking, the works render a great contribution to the development of the Juche-oriented fine arts.
Korean painting “At New Workplace,” acrylic painting “Scenery of Drastically-changed Kangdong,” Korean jewel paintings “New Scenery of Rimhung Street” and “Jonwi Street at Night” and others show well the daily-changing appearance of the country.
Acrylic painting “At the Happy Home,” Korean painting “The Communist Mother,” calligraphy “O Party, It’s Thanks to Your Care,” woodcut print “The Street We Live in,” Korean painting “The Continued Lesson” and other works which deal with the happy life of the people are impressive as they reflect the national emotions, feelings and life of the people and accord with the requirements of the times and modern aesthetic taste, while retaining their genre characteristics and techniques.
Oil painting “Into the Warm Embrace” (1 440×970mm) depicts the pilots of the People’s Army rescuing the people who were isolated in the zone vulnerable to flooding due to a record downpour in the city of Sinuiju and Uiju County of North Phyongan Province late in July.
In addition, the art studio has produced “The First Full Moon Day,” “Cradle” and many other inlaid celadon vases with beautiful shapes, elegant colours, delicate carving and different patterns, by steadily developing the nation’s traditional techniques of making celadon.
It has also produced various kinds of artworks, such as plastic craftworks, mother-of-pearl works, doll craftworks, plaster sculptures, shell paintings and embroidery pieces.
Many of the works presented by the art studio have been highly acclaimed by visitors at national fine arts exhibitions and shows, and registered as articles for the state’s collection.
