Scientists at University of Sciences have developed an ingenious technique for producing essential oils. The technique, as it is expected to contribute to the development of the country’s essential oil industry, has been successfully introduced into relevant units.
According to data available, many countries around the world are now using a multi-stage fractionating column to separate isoamyl alcohol from fusel oil.
However, this approach is not effective enough to completely remove impurities in fusel oil.
“What is most important in improving the quality of essential oils is to establish a technique to extract basic materials on an advanced level and enhance their extraction rate and purity,” said Om Chol I, section chief of the university.
Through years of inquiry into the global trend in developing essential oil industry and relevant documents on latest achievements, the research team developed an original way of synthesizing isoamyl alcohol rich in fusel oil with ethyl ester isovalerate that is widely used as a major ingredient in making the essence of fruits such as apple, pear and banana.
This raw material of fruit aroma made through a new indirect electrolytic oxidation, not through direct electrolytic oxidation, has recently been registered as a high-tech product for its purity of over 99% and high economic value such as low production cost.
Fruit essence, which can be used as an ingredient of mixed essential oils, is well accepted by the units that are using it.
