One day in 2015 the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the construction site of the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station.
Highly appreciating the labour feats of the youth shock brigade members who were engaged in construction while cultivating themselves mentally and physically despite the intense cold in Mt Paektu, he learned in detail about the progress of the construction and then asked about the shelter of the displaced local residents.
Until that time the houses for the residents in the area to be submerged were supposed to be built in charge of the province where the power station was situated, so less attention was being paid to the matter.
On learning about this, Kim Jong Un took measures to complete the construction of the dwelling houses of the residents by October 10 that year, stressing that any monumental edifices built by us should be the creations for people’s well-being.
That day he said that the youth shock brigade should, like others, stand in the vanguard of improving the people’s livelihood and easing the strain on the country’s electricity upholding the slogan “We serve the people!”
In 2023 he initiated building another street along with the second-stage construction of 10 000 flats in the Hwasong area of the capital city of Pyongyang, and entrusted the added project entirely to the youth.
In response to his trust, the Paektusan Hero Youth Shock Brigade came to Pyongyang and a large number of young people across the country volunteered to take part in the project.
After receiving the report on it, Kim Jong Un expressed great satisfaction, saying relevant officials that now our young people’s ideological and spiritual quality and their spirit are excellent and this time over 100 000 young people volunteered to work in the housing construction in the capital city in response to the call of the Party Central Committee.
And he stressed that just as the young communists had formed the backbone in pioneering the revolutionary cause of Juche and the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters who had played the role as core members of the state-building, today our young people should become the backbone of the revolutionary ranks and vanguard and advance group in the construction of socialism and communism.
Thanks to such deep trust, young Koreans could perform the miracle of building a magnificent street in the capital city of Pyongyang in a short period of time.
