Self-reliance has always been the banner of struggle and the driving force of rapid advance in the whole course of the Korean revolution. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un has led the efforts to achieve national prosperity, adopting self-reliance as a treasured sword.

At the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea he said: The main seed and theme of the new five-year plan for national economic development are, as always, self-reliance and self-sufficiency. Self-reliance during the period of the new long-term plan should develop into nationwide, planned and scientific self-reliance.

He stressed the need to hold higher the banner of self-reliance in every period and at every stage of the developing revolution, and to break through the difficulties on the road of socialist construction only by dint of self-reliance.

He made sure that the flames of self-reliance swept the country.

With his continuous field guidance to many units across the country, he implanted in the mind of the people the priceless immutable truth that what they should believe in is only their strength and that advancing under the uplifted banner of self-reliance is the only way for them to live and emerge victorious. And he highly appreciated anything made by their own efforts and technology, even though they may not be big.

Once he visited the Pyongyang Children’s Foodstuff Factory. While looking round the factory, he received the report that the scientists, technicians and workers at the factory manufactured some of the production equipment entirely by their own efforts when they remodelled the factory. He expressed satisfaction, saying that he was pleased to hear that the employees of the factory called the workshop “domestic production workshop” as all its equipment were made by their own efforts.

Later, when he looked round the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill, he said with great pleasure that though the facilities of the satchel canvas production line are not as gorgeous as imported ones, they are so precious and valuable as they were made by the factory’s own efforts.

The DPRK is dynamically advancing along the road of independence and socialism despite manifold trials and difficulties, and it is attributable to the leadership of Kim Jong Un who trained all the people to be incarnations of self-reliance.

Thus, the spirit of self-reliance is so widespread in the country that the Korean people churn out famous products and build many monumental edifices.

Now they are more dynamically opening up the road of comprehensive development of socialism with the firm faith and belief that there would be no difficulties that cannot be overcome when they advance under the uplifted banner of self-reliance.
